PACIFIC ELECTRIC STATION INFORMATION

UNKNOWN DATE OR EXACT SOURCE

These pages are from apparently some sort of rate or routing guide, and was used by my dad, a Railway Express Agency employee at LAUPT for over 35 years. The covers and first and last parts of the book are missing, but it appears to have covered all intercity rail lines in California, but for now I'm just posting the PE-related section. The SP and ATSF lines are intact in the ~150 pages that remain, and some shortlines, but virtually nothing for railroads beginning with letters before "S." Union Pacific is missing, apparently having been listed as "Salt Lake" and was probably the last part of the missing first section. <sigh>

Many of the locations in the book were gone by the 1940s, and some as early as the 1920s, so we're trying to figure out its approximate date; we're hoping to put the pieces together based on what is and what isn't listed. Also, just what was the book's purpose and by whom was it published?

Suggestions, comments and questions invited at the PERy yahoogroup either by email or at the group's website. For the time being you don't need to be a list member to read or post messages.
